Behind NomAddictDuo
We’re Gigi (a Filipino-Canadian) and Cyp (a Frenchman), the duo behind NomAddictDuo, a food and travel blog inspired by our shared love of exploring new places, chasing adventures, and, of course, discovering amazing food.
Near the end of 2023, we each went off on separate journeys to Australia, only to cross paths in the new year when mutual friends set us up on a blind date. That first meeting was full of lively conversations about our reasons for pursuing a working holiday visa, our shared love of food, and our mutual passion for adventure. We connected instantly, and though blending our lives together hasn’t been without challenges, we’ve been lucky to share some incredible adventures as a couple.
From Solo Travels to Shared Adventures
Before we met, we each had unique experiences that shaped who we are today:
- Gigi’s Pre-Cyp Highlight: Spending a month in Queensland with new found friends, exploring the stunning landscapes and enjoying the laid-back vibe.
- Cyp’s Pre-Gigi Highlight: Quitting everything back home in France and spending two transformative months in Bali, where he learned a lot about himself before heading to Australia.
Since coming together, we’ve been able to share adventures that have brought us closer, including:
- A “double date” trip to Thailand with the friends who introduced us. We checked off bucket list Thai food experiences, tanned and swam at picturesque beaches, and visited an ethical elephant sanctuary.
- Countless hikes around Australia, including the Blue Mountains and the Southern Highlands. One of the most challenging (and rewarding) was a 16km bike ride and a 4km hike to see Gerringong Falls—a memory we’ll never forget.
- The ultimate travel milestone: meeting each other’s families in our home countries, which brought a deeper understanding of each other’s backgrounds.
Why We Started NomAddictDuo
This blog began as an idea sparked from a personal project. Gigi started a food diary on Instagram (HangryGorl) to document and remember the amazing places she ate at and to easily recommend spots to friends and family. But as she began traveling more, she realized it wasn’t just about the food—it was the overall experience.
Cyp loved the idea of creating a digital diary. Together, we decided to expand the little foodie project into something bigger: a place to share not just food recommendations but also travel tips, hiking experiences, and stories from our adventures. And so, NomAddictDuo was born.

The Journey So Far
Our travels together haven’t just been about ticking places off a bucket list—they’ve been about growth, self-discovery, and learning how to navigate life as a team. Living away from our native countries while saving for future adventures hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been worth it. Through it all, we’ve learned to balance the turbulence of travel with the joy of sharing incredible memories, whether it’s savoring street food in Thailand or tackling a tough hike in Australia.
